Asbestos Testing

I often get asked about what it takes to remove walls, and scrape textured popcorn ceilings at the time when I do an home renovation consultation. Customers are very often surprised when I mention the first thing we should be doing is testing to see if the materials contain asbestos. Then they ask me, “do you think it contains asbestos?”

The truth is that we can’t see asbestos. Popcorn ceiling texture with asbestos looks the same as popcorn ceiling without asbestos. It can only be detected by a laboratory under a microscope. The next thing they ask is, “is it really necessary to get it tested, so and so says it isn’t.” It is absolutely necessary to get it tested.
